Abstract

The article is concerned with one of the most famous and philosophical essays of Neo-Confucian thinker Li Zhi (1527–1602) – «Discourse on Husband and Wife» (Fu Fu Lun). The translation to Russian is provided as well as a large number of references to the Classics of Chinese thought (e.g. «Canon of Changes» (Yi Jing), «Canon of Way and Grace» (Dao De Jing), «Classified Conversations of Master Zhu» (Zhuzi Yu Lei), etc.) are discovered and commented. , the author came to the conclusion that the essay has oppositional and critical nature and its main goal is to discredit the teaching of Zhu Xi as well as its core ontological categories – the Supreme Ultinate (tai ji) and the Principle (li). It can be summarized that this critique is realized through the prism of naturalistic dualism of democratic type; at the same time, it is very questionable to consider this essay to be of feministic nature.
