Abstract

The article reveals the parameters of the philosophy of the history of the European Union: the key philosopheme of the Union is formulated, its genesis and main developmental moments are indicated. The latter are traced in accordance with the ten key stages of the Union’s development: from the “Introductory”, at which the Western European Union (WEU) was established, to the “Heroic”, marked by the solemn celebration of the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Rome Treaty, establishing the European Economic Community, which became the basis for EU in its current form. It is argued that the process of self-justification of the European Union as a political association, in its logic, reproduces the search for the justification of science, which received the common name the Munchhausen trilemma.

It is showed that the desired philosopheme is formed in the process of the dialectic of Existing and Due, germinating in this process historically and acquiring universality and "closeness" as a result of this process. The limits of the effectiveness of this philosopheme have been discovered. It is shown that, in times of crisis, the key determinant of the philosophy of the history of the EU, in order to remain working, have to be constantly subjected to verification, confirmation and correction, to get the"open"character. The article also provides a general description of the history of philosophy as an academic discipline, its main vectors and trends, forming a conceptual methodological platform for the entire body of philosophical and historical research.
