- Abstract
Migration interaction between Spain and Cuba stands apart from the generaltransatlantic migration trend. In the XIX century Cuba became the last Westernhemisphere Spanish Empire stronghold. It has passed almost all stages and forms ofcolonization in a short time. The republican form of government has not reduced theSpanish migration flow, but its intensity was determined by economic factors. The Cubanrevolution initiated a new stage of mobility; the Spanish direction being an importantpart of it, while the political reasons for Cuban emigration have gradually given wayto economic demands.
