- Abstract
Article purpose is to identify the relationship between Jesuits monks missionary activities in Latin America in the XVI-XVIII cent. and the religious views of contemporary Latin Americans, their value systems and ideological preferences. In the XXI cent., despite the active missionary work of the liberal radical Protestant churches, in particular the Pentecostals, representing the interests of the United States and the so-called Theology of prosperity in the region, high Christian ideals, expressed particularly in the Theology of liberation, continue to be in demand. Article topic urgency is that today ideological confrontation between two Christian antagonistic forces - the liberal Protestant organizations and left-oriented Catholic forces erupts with new strength and affects all spheres of Latin American countries life, including their political course.
