Abstract
The article contains an analysis of Mexico's foreign policy towards the North American neighbors at the beginning of the 21st century. The authors pay particular attention to relations with the US - both in bilateral format and within the framework of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). In addition, the political and economic interaction between Mexico and Canada is touched upon. In the course of the study, the authors come to the conclusion that the current aggravation of Mexican-American relations is natural and, despite the inevitable negative consequences for Mexico in the short term, it provides Mexico with a number of potential opportunities
