Abstract
The article presents an overview of the presentations at the international scientific conference "Mexican-American war 1846-1848 in the historical retrospective". It was held in Moscow in May 2017 and attended by Russian and foreign scientists. The conference was dedicated to the causes and stages of the Mexican-American military conflict that took place in the middle of 19th century, and its consequences for the further development of relations between the two countries. The main emphasis during the conference was placed on aggressive, expansionist actions of the United States who annexed Mexican territory. Great attention was paid to the question of correlation of results of the long-standing bilateral conflict with modern realities and the need to make sense of the legal and moral-political problems that were introduced to the international relations system.
