- Abstract
- The population of a small Oriental Republic of Uruguay, located in the southeastern part of South America on the Atlantic coast, is not more than 3.5 million people. But this is one of the most economically developed countries of the continent, by GDP per capita it is third economy in Latin America. The last five years, the head of the state was Jose Alberto Mujica, whose compatriots call him El Pepe. The representative of the coalition "Broad front", was a member of the leftist guerrilla movement “The Tupamaros”, therefor spent 14 years in military prison. It is known as the poorest and the generous president in the world: from their salaries 12.5 thousand dollars he spent for himself only a little over a thousand, and the rest donated to charity.
