- Abstract
- The author critically examines the theories of the Genesis of Latin American magical realism and proves that it originated in the era of the conquest from the primary mode of perception of the New World. Examples from the texts of the conquistadors show the presence of two basic features of the poetics of magical realism. The first is the accentuated opposition of the New World / Old World, i.e. the perception of the surrounding reality when it is constantly compared with the European reality. The second is the assessment of American reality as wonderful, exceptional
