Abstract

The article provides an analysis of the long-term Swiss «protective power mandate» for the representing of U.S. interests in Cuba (1961-2015). The author examines conditions under which the U.S. entrusted authority to the Swiss Confederation with regard to its own interests in Cuba, and considers the role of the Swiss diplomacy in resolving some disputes between Washington and Havana.
