Abstract
The object analyzed in the article is the Ecuador political development during the whole XX and the early XXI centuries. Nine are main political macroprocess’ stages singled out here. The mentioned problems have been chronic to Ecuador along this complicated historical trajectory: caudillism, populism (the “velasquismo” phenomenon), the elitist and corporative character of politics, the army interference, etc. The author concludes that the “Citizenffl Revolution”, initiated by the R.Correa government, has become an attempt to overcome the chronic political instability.
