- Abstract
- The article analyzes the main provisions of the new regional development strategy, put forward by UN-ECLAC in 2010. Its primary objectives are social equality and transformation of the production sector through diversification and introduction of modern technologies and innovations in order to overcome the gap with the advanced countries. The author defines central elements of the strategy: industrial policy, innovation systems, government leadership, regional integration, environmental policy. In conclusion the feasibility of this strategy is put under the question in the context of a sharp deterioration of foreign economic conditions and financial difficulties.
