Abstract
Twenty-three years of Mexico's participation in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) brought the country's economy, significant benefits in the form of foreign direct investment, the diversification of the production structure, attracting new technologies and modern production. Evaluation of Mexico's participation in this agreement is ambiguous. Inflated expectations of social results did not materialize. It created the conditions of integration of the Mexican economy with the United States and increased its dependence on its northern neighbor. Intentions D.Trampa revise this agreement poses a threat to the Mexican economy. The public and the business community call on the government of Mexico to defend national interests in the forthcoming negotiations on NAFTA.
