Abstract
The “Super-Sunday” of July 4 of 2010 – the day of renovation of executive and legislative powers and also of municipal self-governments in 12 Mexican states changed drastically the political map of the country and marked some new crucial tendencies for the presidential campaign of 2012. The Partido Revolucionario Institucional retained the power or received it in 9 states defeating the left-wing alliance in one of them and moving the right-wing Partido Accion Nacional from the politi-cal field in some others. However, the fears of the PRI’s possible revanche during the presidential campaign of 2012 resulted in the formation of a right-wingers and left-wingers’ coalition whose main aim is to pre-vent the PRI’s return to the Presidential Palace. The authors analyze the particularities of the elections in different Mexican states, estimate the perspectives of national political forces in the future presidential elections and trace the general tendencies which would mark where would Mexico go politically in 2012.
