- Abstract
- The article analyzes the official letters of Christopher Columbus with representatives of the court concerning the New World Discovery. It presents a detailed compositional and linguistic analysis of Columbus’s letter about his first voyage to new lands, addressed to Luis de Santangel, financial consultant of the Spanish royal couple, as well as some characteristics of the letter addressed to the treasurer Rafael Sanchez. The paper describes previous studies of Columbus’s letters, gives different points of view concerning the authorship of these letters, analyzes some controversial features of the great discovery.
