- Abstract
- The article is devoted to the Portuguese voyages in North Atlantic at the end of 15th century. It analyses two hypothesizes on the Portuguese discovery of North America in the 1470s as well as the information about Portuguese exploration of the coastal line of present day eastern Canada – i.e. Newfoundland and Cap-Breton islands and Labrador Peninsula at the 1490s. Special attention is given to the impact of Columbus and John Cabot voyages on the Portuguese activity in this region at the end of 1490s
