- Abstract
- Witnessed during last decade China’s economic expansion in Latin America and the Caribbean causes controversy in the U.S., which traditionally have viewed this region as its “basic periphery”. Given in this article comparative analyses of contemporary economic U.S. and China’s postures in Latin America and the Caribbean is aimed at identifying substantiation of U.S. concerns over China’s threat to American interests in the region. In particular, different forms of the U.S. and China’s engagement in the region including trade, investment and development assistance are scrupulously analyzed in the article.
