Abstract
In 1980 the successful start of the Soviet piloted ship “Soyuz-38” with the Commander Jury Romanenko and the cosmonaut-Investigator, the citizen of the Republic of Cuba, Arnaldo Tamayo Mendes onboard has been carried out. The article is devoted to the 30th anniversary of the first space flight of the Cuban who became not only the national hero in his country but the first ever cosmonaut in Latin America.
