- Abstract
- The expropriation of most of the assets of the Spanish Repsol corporation in the joint Argentine-Spanish oil and gas company Repsol / YPF has had the effect of a bombshell. The Argentine authorities have affected the vital interests of one of the leaders of the Spanish economy, which has seriously complicated trade and political relations between the two countries. The article traces the history of YPF, shows its role in the development of the Argentine energy industry, analyzes internal and external factors that influenced the decision of the official Buenos Aires, and examines the consequences of the conflict.
