- Abstract
- The outcome of processes of political modernization in Latin America during the last twenty years is evaluated in the review. The reviewer supports the conclusion of the authors of the book that by the end of the twentieth century, the democratic transition has ended on the Continent, and now the majority of these countries are at the stage of transition to a consolidated democracy. The growing political influence of new social movements particularly Indian in the region, as well as the emergence of the regimes of neo-populist type is underscored.
