Abstract
Examines the development of Western thinkers to the theory of modernization in 1950-1960-ies. follow-up Analyses the evolution of ideas about modernization, the increasing interest in the diversity of socio-economic development. The main problem of contemporary debates about modernization is seen in the recognition/non-recognition of the normative model of modernity.
