Abstract

The tendency towards linguistic economy is expressed in the formation and use of complex words - (quasi)compounds. The pragmatic component of the lexical meaning of such neologisms often contains an emotional and evaluative meaning, which makes it possible to use such neologisms as a means of self-expression, as well as a part of the special vocabulary of journalistic texts. The focus of this research is the international construct eko- (ekologický) in the composition of complex words of the Czech language. The paper compares quasi-compounds and their functional-semantic equivalents, which are multiple-word names. Semantic groups of neologisms with this component are presented. The analysis was carried out on the material of the Czech neologism database Neomat, the neologism portal Čeština 2.0, the Czech National Corpus, as well as search systems.
