Abstract
Present paper investigates development of political regimes in Latin America on the modern stage. For explaining of political processes in the region, author refers to the theory of populism, arguing that traditional comprehension of populism does not reflect essence of modern populist regimes and leads to misperception of interrelations of populism and democracy. The present condition of left-wing populist regime in Bolivia is examined as well as how populist president Evo Morales has altered political system of the state.
