- Abstract
- International development assistance programmers are an instrument of Russian foreign economic policy, used to strengthen the country's role in the global arena. Latin American states are traditional recipients of international aid, and the Russian Federation has recently been paying increasing attention to this activity in the region. In general, the Russian development assistance programs are implemented on a bilateral basis. The case studies of Cuba and Nicaragua reveal some of the characteristics of the Russian aid in Latin America.
