- Abstract
- The article is dedicated to the person of Vital Brazil Mineiro da Campanha, one of the most respected science and health organizers in the history of Brazil. V. Brazil is known for his work in the field of toxicology and immunology, resulting in the development of an effective polyvalent antidote against the bites of venomous snakes. He organized the production of serum, which was needed by the country, on the basis of the Butantan Institute. The Butantan Institute has become a model for scientific and production institutions of this type. The activity of V. Brazil has radically affected the problem of ophidism in Brazil. This problem is due to the natural specifics of the region, but has an important social significance.
