- Abstract
The history of the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua is presented in the article. It is argued that a multi-ethnic community arose in this part of Central America, embracing various groups of Indian and Afro-Creole descent. The victory of USA in the Anglo-American competition contributed to the ‘reincorporation” of Mosquito Coast (Mosquitia) within Nicaragua. The authors discuss the development of the Coast (Costa Caribe/Atlantica) until the creation of multi-ethnic Autonomous Regions on the territory of the former Miskito Kingdom.
