- Abstract
The author analyzes the phenomenon of politicization of ethnicity in Latin America in the last quarter of the XX century during the globalization processes. In spite of cultural integration and expansion of the liberal democracy, ethnicity, race, nationalism became crucial factors in politics. The indigenous identity in Latin America was recognized in the 1970s as a strong element of political struggle that included waves of protests, creation of indigenous political parties, demands for autonomy and armed resistance.
