Abstract
The paper treats the migration processes developed in Latin America from the Independence fighting to the current period. The formation of the independent states in Latin America has led to a migration processes paradigm change - the center of migration policy has moved to the recipient countries, the human mobility being determined mainly by the personal socio-economic motives. During this period, the geography and dynamics of migration flows was the result of the interplay of global and local determinants. The mentioned features allow the tracing of the specific mechanisms affecting the human mobility in different historical periods.
