- Abstract
- One of the most discussed modern economic problems is the real changes in the correlation of forces between the North (United States, EU and Japan) and the South (developing and post-socialist countries). The correct understanding of these changes needs to take into account the process of deep differentiation in the South (rapid economic progress of China and some other Asian countries and the lag behind of a number “weak chains”. Latin America belongs to these weak chains. The author analyses main features that determinate the position of the region as a week point of the world economy. The region’s economic evolution in the first decade of the current century aggravated these features. The understanding of economic realities and the liberation from ungrounded illusions are a key path to the elaboration of effective social-economic strategy.
