- Abstract
- The paper treats the features of intercontinental migrations during the colonial period. The input of purposely tailored resettlement policy of the parent country is pinpointed. The influence of the socio-economic and demographic factors on the migration flows intensity is demonstrated. The flows were estimated in terms of numbers and nationalities. Three centuries of colonial migration have formed the new Latin America population ethno-cultural structure. The particularity of the Western hemisphere territories settlement during the colonial period clearly shows the trans-border properties of migratory processes, their transformative power and intercontinental character.
