- Abstract
- The article deals with the history of the origin and the contemporary condition of the Association of Caribbean States (ASC), an intergovernmental regional organization. The Authors point out that among other integration unities in Latin America and the Caribbean it is remarkable for the diversity of its member states which, besides making obstacles to its functioning, also creates benefits. The part played in its development by Cuba and Venezuela is especially interesting. The conclusion contains the opinion on the possible ways of strengthening the ACS and its meaning for bilateral and multilateral relations in the region.
