- Abstract
- The article considers main lines of action of Raul Castro - a notable statesman and politician - after his brother delegating him all the higher authorities in the country. The attention is focused on considerable changes in socio-economic sphere, aimed at improvement of socialistic model of development. The article highlights the shifts in the field of external policy focused on integration to the world economy. Special attention is paid to the restoration of relations with the USA, broken more than fifty years ago by the North American neighbor’s fault. Also peacemaking initiatives are analyzed, among which the most remarkable is the historical meeting of the Pope Francis and Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus’ Kirill, which took place in Havana with the assistance of Raul Castro.
