Abstract
The main prize of the 32rd Moscow International Film Festival was won by the Venezuelan filmmaker Marcel Rasquin for his first full length film «Brother». His triumphal debut not only continued the list of the notorious festival winnings of the Latin American films on the major international film festivals but also opened for Venezuela a way to the world cinema. A domestic drama «Brother» set in the poor «barrios» of Caracas with a high crime rate, became an absolute success. It was bought for international distribution and was nominated for Academy prize. The MIFF main prize winner Marcel Rasquin told us about the meaning of this breakthrough film for the Venezuelan film industry and other things.
