- Abstract
- The article treats the Russian-Mexican relations through the prism of some memorable dates in the history of Mexico, such as the Bicentenary of Independence and the Centenary of the 1910—1917 Mexican Revolution. The main principles of Mexico’s foreign policy, formed during liberation’s wars — respect for a country’s sovereignty, aspiration for world peace, condemnation of external aggression — have been the basis of the policy of mutual understanding and solidarity, economic ties and cultural exchanges between Russia and Mexico since the mid-19th century. Reflections of scientific and cultural relations with the ILA are also touched upon, including the author’s own decades long experience in dealing with Mexico’s outstanding personalities in the spheres.
