Abstract

The article is dedicated to the work of the outstanding Mexican playwright Emilio Carballido (1925-2008), the author of over a hundred plays translated into different languages including Russian (2010). Beside Mexico, the plays of Carballido were staged in the USA and many countries of Latin America and Europe. The article includes both personal memories and interpretation of the creative work of the playwight, as well as his role and place in the national and Latin American culture in general.
