- Abstract
- This article analyses the policy of Chilean democratic governments towards the Indian population of the country from 1990 to present, describing its tendencies and problems, its progress and new challenges. The paper examines the government programs, the role and activity of the non-governmental organizations, the causes of the protest movement of Mapuche, and the general situation with the “Indian question” on the eve of the new presidential elections.
