- Abstract
- The possibility of defining an activist performance as an “experiment” according to Garfinkel is considered. The meaning and significance attached by Garfinkel to the experiment as an instrument of ethnomethodological research are analyzed. Connections between Garfinkel experiments and performances are established, and empirical examples are given. In conclusion, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the position that actionists find themselves in as ethnomethodology researchers.
