Abstract
The article presents the results of a study of ideas about parenthood and an assessment of existing measures to stimulate the birth rate. Economic measures to stimulate the birth rate are proposed to be supplemented with ideological ones, developed on the basis of recognition of the labor content of activities for the birth, care, socialization and education of children. The key theoretical positions of the sociological analysis of parental labor are determined.
