Abstract
The first international organizations that united historians of science from different countries appeared in the first third of the twentieth century. One of these—the International Academy of the History of Science—was closely connected to the Centre International de Synthèse and the International Union of Historians of Science from the very beginning. Over time these ties weakened, and now the Academy is a separate and independent institute that facilitates direct and personal communications among the most prominent representatives of the history of science.
