Abstract
The article is written in commemoration of the Arbatov 90 th Anniversary. It covers all significant landmarks of Georgiy Arbatov scientific and political life including foundation of the U.S.A. and Canada Institute as the Russian Academy of Science subsidiary. It also evaluates his impact on creation of such a new branch of scientific research as “American Studies” or “Americanistics”.
