Аннотация
В данной статье показаны женщины и мужчины, а также трансгендеры в кино США по обе стороны экрана. Речь пойдёт как об участии в качестве рабочей силы, так и посредством экранных образов в качестве персонажей и проводников доминирующих представлений о гендерных идентичностях. Признавая наличие «закулисного» гендерного неравенства, автор осторожен в вопросе злонамеренной и умышленной дискриминации в киноиндустрии во многом по вине устаревших представлений, предрассудков и стереотипов. В описании и оценке гендерной репрезентации на экране автор избегает излишней драматизации и не фокусируется исключительно на негативных аспектах (объектификации, сексуализации, неравенстве и т.д.), отмечая отдельные позитивные моменты и сдвиги, прежде всего в экранных репрезентациях. Затрагиваемые темы включают «девичью силу», либеральный и радикальный феминизм, «постфеминистскую сенсибильность», «кризис мужской идентичности», «мизандрию», интерсекциональность, гендерное и расовое многообразие, трансгендерность, «гендерные неприятности». В статье говорится о борьбе требующих равенства женщин за привилегии мужчин, которая всерьёз усложняется прогрессирующим культурным (в том числе гендерным) «многообразием» (diversity) и «включённостью» (inclusivity), а также социальной фрагментацией, сегментацией и идентификацией.
